Well...well well...!!Start of a new season. And what an awesome start to the season. You won't often get a better start to a PSL season than a Swallows vs Sundowns game. Period!!!
For those that would not know, Moroka Swallows is a legendary team. And I will get to that some time.
First let me get through the season opener. Ok...we lost. Blah, blah, blah! But what a game that was. And the Birds supporters were really in good voice. It was great meeting all of those travelling fans.
The result will really flatter Sundowns a bit much. They were not in the game as much as the score line would suggest. In fact I felt, the Birds biggest sin was not really giving enough support to Nomvete upfront. He was left mostly isolated with the midfield not pushing up when we were in possession. We could well have missed Lefa Tsutsulupa in the middle of the park but Gareth Naca was very useful in the middle of the park. I felt he lacked a bit of fitness, but that is understandable with the season just starting.
But all in all our boys played well and there's no need to drop their heads. And our Bafana Bafana recruit confirmed that his call up was not a fluke dealing well with Mokoena and eventually forcing "Cheeseboy" to switch flanks.
I just have to mention our gear/kit, its awesomely awesome. If you are a neutral football fan, you'd do well for yourself getting one. Have to applaud Puma for their sterling work. Keep it up guys.
Generally the opening day dished a lot of good football. Many of the games impressed me, though I just saw mostly highlight packages. Pirates were giving a big scare by newboys Vasco. And by the way the double header in Cape Town seems to have attracted a big crowd. Good work PSL, its not often that you guys do such good work.
Crowds were really disappointing for me, especially as I have mentioned the improved footballing spectacle, and also tickets are massively cheap at R25. I will get back to the topic of crowds but really disappointing for opening day.
We now have internationals, you know FIFA has to make some money. So here's to BAFANA BAFANA beating Niger. Guys in Mpumalanga, please paint that Mbombela Stadium in yellow or gold, is it !!! Bafana needs our support to get through these qaulifiers.
See you guys soon.
